  Description

     Ca. 300 BC, hd. of horned Apollo Karneios r. / silphium plant,
     start to r., KY RA, 7.54 g. Condition as per scan (a rare AR coin
     in this condition), good silver, typically tight flan, unusually
     clear reverse type. Harvested to near-extinction, the silphium
     plant (closely related to stinking assafoetida) was antiquity's
     botanical wonder-drug and the principal source of Kyrene's
     prosperity, whence its presence on Kyrene's coinage. Among other
     forms of payment I accept money orders and personal checks (item
