     Kyrene, North Africa, AR didrachm-stater, (7.61g) 308-277 BC,
     Head of Karneios right. / Silphium plant, KU PA in fields. S6319;
     BMC52. Near VF, nicely centered.

     The sylphium plant which appears frequently on the coins of
     Kyrene had fruits which were an aphrodisiac and a contraceptive.
     It went extinct in c. 1st century AD.
